Ledger Hardware Wallets

Secure your cryptocurrency assets with industry-leading hardware wallet technology

What is a Ledger Wallet?

A Ledger hardware wallet is a specialized device designed to securely store the private keys to your cryptocurrency assets. Unlike software wallets that are connected to the internet, hardware wallets keep your private keys isolated in a secure offline environment, providing the highest level of protection against online threats.

Ledger wallets utilize a secure element chip, similar to those used in passports and credit cards, to provide military-grade security for your digital assets. This ensures that even if your computer is compromised, your cryptocurrencies remain safe.

How Hardware Wallets Work

When you perform a cryptocurrency transaction, the transaction details are sent to your Ledger device. You physically confirm the transaction on the device itself, and the private key never leaves the secure element. This process ensures that your sensitive information is never exposed to potentially vulnerable internet-connected devices.

Security Architecture

Ledger devices implement multiple layers of security to protect your assets:

🛡️

Secure Element Chip

A certified secure chip (CC EAL5+ equivalent) that stores your private keys and isolates them from the rest of the system.

🔐

PIN Code Protection

Access to your device is protected by a PIN code, with the device wiping after multiple incorrect attempts.

🌱

Recovery Phrase

A 24-word recovery phrase allows you to restore your wallet if your device is lost, stolen, or damaged.

Ledger's security model is based on the principle of trust minimization. The device is designed to operate securely even when connected to a compromised computer, as the private keys never leave the secure element.

Supported Cryptocurrencies

Ledger hardware wallets support a wide range of digital assets, including:

Bitcoin (BTC)
Ethereum (ETH)
Ripple (XRP)
Litecoin (LTC)
